Our Team focuses on supporting individuals to maintain and improve their function throughout their lives. This can range from learning to walk, rehabilitation post injury or illness to being able to play sports with friends.
Sunshine’s physiotherapy services are highly individualised and tailored to meet the needs of each individual. Our team of experts work closely with individuals to establish specific goals based on their medical history and condition. We use a combination of exercises, manual therapy, modalities, and education to help individuals achieve these goals. Our ultimate objective is to improve individual physical function, reduce pain, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Our team is highly experienced in the understanding of developmental milestones and supporting individuals and families in attaining these to their highest capacity. Developmental Physiotherapy includes the in depth understanding of children’s growth and neurodevelopment and utilises this clinical expertise in a fun and play based approach. Our team includes a Paediatric Physiotherapist who is a committee member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association Queensland Paediatrics Board, and this experience is integral to the enhancement of developmental therapies at Sunshines.
Physiotherapists work to enhance an individual’s physical capabilities, including range of motion, strength, flexibility, and balance. This can help people regain their ability to walk, climb stairs, reach, and perform other activities of daily living.
Physiotherapists use the pool as a calming environment to complete exercises and therapies. The aim of hydrotherapy is to relax the muscles and reduce pain which can lead to increased strength, development of skills, increased endurance and increased joint range of motion
Physiotherapists often guide injury prevention, teaching individuals exercises and techniques to reduce the risk of future injuries, especially in sports and occupational settings. Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation of individuals recovering from injuries, surgeries, or medical conditions. The goal is to help individuals regain functional independence and return to their previous level of activity or work.
One of the primary goals of physiotherapy is to alleviate pain, whether caused by an injury, chronic condition, or post-surgery recovery. Physiotherapists use various techniques, such as manual therapy, modalities, & exercise, to reduce pain.
Physiotherapists have a specialised knowledge of the body’s biomechanics to tailor assessments and treatments to enhance an athlete and the general population in their chosen sport. At Sunshines this can be incorporated through individualised gym programs, manual therapies, recovery management and injury prevention.
The process of prescribing equipment in physiotherapy involves a thorough assessment of an individual’s needs, capabilities, and goals. The equipment is selected to match the person’s specific requirements and abilities. Physiotherapists then provide education and training on how to use the equipment effectively. The aim is to enhance an individual’s ability to improve their overall quality of life and promote independence and well-being.
As allied health professionals, our connection with individuals and the broader community is the cornerstone of our practice. We are committed to building relationships that go beyond medical diagnoses and treatments, emphasising empathy, trust, and open communication.
